Step Away NZ

Step Away NZ is an app designed specifically for New Zealand users.  Funding from the New Zealand Health Research Council helped Dr. Dulin to work with researchers from the University of Auckland (Natalie Walker, PI) to create an app that reflected important aspects of New Zealand culture (and language).  It has many of the same features of  the base version of Step Away but uses New Zealand “normative drinking” data and also helps to connect New Zealand users with many other free types of support available in New Zealand.

In a clinical trial of the Step Away NZ app performed in the Auckland area, Step Away NZ users reduced their drinking by an average of 60% and they reported substantial reductions in drinking-related life problems.  Publication of these important findings in academic journals is currently in process.
